How To: Make Homemade Hot Bologna

BUY MANTUARY GEAR!

If there is ever a snack that defines Man its a jar of pickled hot bologna. Serving two purposes, it satisfies your craving for a snack and acts as a repellent to woman as they gag at the thought of processed meat being pickled. Kryptonite is to Superman as Hot Bologna is to woman. Simple to make, this is the one must have snack that should sit in every Mantuary.
What you need:
  • 1 gallon glass jar
  • About 2 feet of ring balogna (I use Schaefer’s, its the best)
  • Crushed red pepper to taste (the kind you put on pizza)
  • 1 jar of HOT cherry peppers
  • 2 white onion
  • 2 green peppers (optional)
  • 1 jar of white vinegar

Prep:

  • Cut balogna into sections suitable for your tastes. I prefer quartered lengthwise then cut into bitesize pieces.
  • Sprinkle with crushed red pepper to taste
  • Slice Onions
  • Slice Peppers

Directioins:

  • In clean glass jar place 1 layer of sliced onion
  • 1 layer of HOT red bell peppers
  • 1 layer of sliced/pepper rubbed balogna
  • Pour vinegar untill almost submerged.
  • Push down and compress till tight (this is the key)
  • Repeat untill filled to the top
  • Pour remaining juice from red bell peppers into jar, top off with white vinegar.
  • Before you throw on the cap, make sure you have every layer of meat/onions/peppers compressed as much as possible. there should be little to no air throughout the entire jar. It should be overflowing with bologna sticking out the top… for the final step, push down the bologna with the cap and tighen cap at the same time as excess vinegar pours out.
  • Note: depending on the meat/onion/pepper ratios you used throughout, you may need to top off with any one ingredient you have left over. whatever you do, top it off with something to ensure the airtight seal.
  • Finished product should have a airtight seal.
  • Flip jar top to bottom every 8 hours for 2 days.
