Typically I shun propane grills and anyone associated with them.  A long time proponent of charcoal grills and smokers, this Father’s Day, I’m putting my guard down and suggesting the perfect Father’s Day gift for charcoal users and lazy asses… err, propane users alike. 

Propane users: 
Check out the Gas Watch.  A handy little device that connects to your propane tank, it will tell you exactly how much gas you have left.  For anyone who has been told, “that’s OK honey, I’ll just throw them in the microwave” this thing can be a lifesaver… you’ll never have to leave it up to guess work again.  This gauge has a built in emergency gas limiter, detects leaks and can be installed with no tools.  Get one for every propane tank in the house… none for me, thanks.

Charcoal users:  
As all charcoal using grill masters and Pit bosses know, lighter fluid is the Devil of the BBQ world.  Of the charcoal lighting methods I swear by, if a Charcoal Chimney is too tedious for you and a Weed Burner is out of your league, try the 60 Second Charcoal Starter from Hammacher.  Using a 1200 degree flame this burner plugs into any electrical outlet and will get you coals red hot in 60 seconds.  Also ideal for lighting a wood-burning fireplace, the device has a cool-touch handle and an integrated stand.
