Stuff You Should Own: The Pocket Chainsaw
Next time you head out to the woods, be sure to take a pocket chainsaw with you. Weighing just 5 oz., it has the power to cut a 3 inch limb in under 10 seconds. Its no bigger than a tin of Skoal and easy to carry too. Made of high strength, heat treated steel, the pocket chainsaw has 124 bi-directional teeth running over a 28 inch chain and its two removable handles make sawing a snap. It is rust resistant and will last a lifetime… I’ve had mine for over 10 years.
Used by the US Military, the pocket chainsaw’s uses are endless. I can’t say I use it daily, but when I do, it’s an irreplaceable tool. When im not using it backpacking, this thing is great for trimming around the yard, cutting roots to remove a dead tree or cutting down our Christmas Tree. There is nothing better than walking into the snowy woods with no visible saw or tool in hand and walking out with a perfectly cut 8′ evergreen… I stump the tree farmer every time. …Which brings up another point that may not be timely, but relevant nonetheless. If you go to a place that only sells pre-cut trees, I hope your Peugeot 207 gets a flat tire on the way home… and when you find yourself standing there on the roadside, soy chai latte in hand, on your cell phone wondering what the hell a lug nut is while calling a tow truck to help you out, hopefully some bypasser will identify the situation for what it is and tell you to…
