Stuff You Should Own: The 22″ Weber Smokey Mountain

BUY MANTUARY GEAR!

The Virtual Weber Bullet recently announced that Weber is coming out with a 22″ version of their Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM).  The WSM also known as a “bullet”, represents the quintessential smoker and has been one of the most popular smokers on the market since its debut in 1981.  (Read The Mantuary’s review of the original 18″ WSM here).  The 18″ model has been my smoker of choice for over 5 years and I’m chomping at the bit to get my hands on one of these 22′s.

Bullet enthusiasts have long been looking for a beefier, higher capacity version of the already proven 18″ model.  The 22″ model is scheduled to be released to retailers sometime in October, although rumor has it they may not be sold until early 2009.  The 22″ version will offer all of the same features as its 18″ counterpart with some additional perks that justify the $499 suggested retail price-tag.
