Elite XC Is Down For The Count
Just 2 weeks after Kimbo Slice got knocked out by Seth “The Silverback” Petruzelli, the company he worked for, Elite XC, is facing a similar fate. Over the past year, Elite XC put all their eggs in the basket called Kimbo and touted him as an unbeatable icon. That worked well when Kimbo beat the tar out of industry has beens like Tank Abbott, James Thompson and Ken Shamrock (they had a collective 4-20 record heading into their fights with Kimbo) but ultimately proved to be the demise of the company when Kimbo himself got knocked out in less than 1 minute when he finally faced a respectable opponent.
To boot, over the past year Elite XC’s parent company, ProElite, went on an Uncle Sam type shopping spree buying out a host of other promotional companies like Cage Rage, ICON, Rumble on the Rock, King of the Cage and Spirit MC… who are these companies you might ask? Exactly!
All this news is not to say your Mantuary will be void of hosting MMA events… enter Dana White and the UFC. Over the past 10 years, The UFC emerged from near extinction as they evolved a “barbaric blood match” into a sanctioned “sport” with rules and regulations. Most recently, the UFC aquired its #1 competitor, PRIDE, and contracted some of PRIDES most notable fighters in the process. With shows like The Ultimate Fighter and UFC Unleashed the UFC is going strong offering plenty of MMA to watch in your Mantuary. This weekend UFC is hosting it’s 90th pay-per view event as MMA superstars fill the card: Anderson Silva Vs. Patrick Cote and Josh Koscheck Vs. Thiago Alves to name a few.
In the end, I think this “cleansing” is good for the sport. As previously reported, it was only a matter of time before Kimbo met his match. And Kimbo, if your reading this, it might be worth noting: Dana White likes his coffee piping hot with 1 cream and 2 sugars and The UFC limo needs an oil change.
Be A Man.
