Listen, I am all for a good time, but there is no excuse for making fun of Nell Carter. First of all, she’s dead. Second, she was the star of Gimme A Break. She was a musical genius, a master of screen and stage. Yes, she was fat. And yes, fat people are funny. And yes, fat people falling off of a table while singing show tunes is funny. But to make fun of Nell Carter, a woman who died for her trade, there is just no excuse. Well, ok, she didn’t die for her trade necessarily… In fact, she probably died choking on a ham bone, but alas there is no excuse. Give HER a break, Founding Father. GIVE HER A BREAK INDEED.
