Mantuary Of The Month: November 2008
Thanks again to everyone who submitted pics and write-ups for November’s Mantuary Of The Month contest. Now in its second month, the competition is definitely starting to heat up, so this month’s winner should be especially proud that his Mantuary was the one left standing when the dust settled.
November’s MOTM goes to Travis from Georgia (believe it or not).
You gotta give Travis credit for the effort he’s put into his Mantuary to date. I’ll let him tell you about it in his own words with an excerpt from his submission:
“As you can tell by the attached pictures, I am a rabid Red Sox fan and I wanted a place where I could relax and enjoy my favorite team at the same time. I had an empty, unfinished room in the basement to create my Red Sox shrine. I purchased the replica hand-operated scoreboard from Chowdaheadz.com. It comes with hundreds of magnetic numbers, letters and team names so you can follow along with a live game or memorialize a favorite past game. Currently, I have the July 24, 2004 game with the Yankees when Varitek threw down with A-Rod. My brother and I built the replica of Pesky’s Pole (right field foul pole at Fenway) out of scraps from Home Depot. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. Let me know what you think…”
I’ll tell you what I think. I think it looks like one helluva good Mantuary for hangin’ with the boys, washing down a few dozen hot wings with a case of beer, and skipping some work to watch an afternoon game. All things you should be able to do in a true Mantuary. The re-creation of Pesky’s Pole and the replica scoreboard are also classic. Nice touch.
Congratulations, Travis. You’re this month’s winner of some cool Mantuary gear.
If you submitted an entry and are pissed that you didn’t win this month, don’t worry, all entries that aren’t chosen are automatically re-entered into a rolling pool of candidates for all future contests. If you didn’t submit an entry and are pissed that you didn’t win this month (or because you are a Yankees fan), GFYS - what are you waiting for? Send in some pics with a short write-up for your chance to make Mantuary history, and as always…
Be A Man.
