The Yankees Win The World Series In 6
The World Series is now over and I think its pretty clear the better team won. I was happy to see the Phillies put up a good fight and at least make the series respectable by taking it to 6 games. And, as a Phillies fan, sure I would have preferred the Phillies to win, yet I cant say that I am surprised by the outcome or bitter by the results. Yet my acceptance of Philly fate is hardly the norm out there. Coming to work today I was shocked by all the bitching out there. A small sampling of what I’ve over heard this morning:
“I guess money CAN buy happiness. Congrats Yankee fans!”
“It’s amazing what an extra 88 million in player saleries will buy you these days.”
“Ugh… The expensive car won the race!:
“Wonder what the outcome of the series would have been with another 100 million dollars worth of pitching added to the Phillies roster.”
Is it me, or are comments like these the pussiest things you’ve ever heard? Who held a gun up to Phillies management telling them they couldn’t spend bookoo bucks on big names? Did these same commentors feel bad for the Yankees when their high payrolls yielded less successful results? The Yankees are the greatest professional sports team in the history of sports… period…. and for good reason. They got that way because over the history of their franchise, they invested in their success and further more do an excellent job ensuring they get a return on their investment(s). As a result, the 27 World Series titles, 40 American League pennants…. the list goes on… should be no surprise.
Besides, if your going to get on the Yankees for anything, get on Arod and Jeter being the 2 biggest ass clowns in baseball.
